Here is a small slideshow from our recent visit to Kenya where we were able to walk the land for Naomi’s Village Childrens Home.
In April of this year we held a benefit Art show and Concert for the Home and raised over 18,000$, which just happened to be the exact amount needed to purchase the land! Amazing…
We also had the opportunity to visit the Comfort the Children School for special needs children where the mothers create/sew shoulder bags that support the school and pay them a salary, absolutely incredible stuff. http://www.ctcinternational.com
Then we spent time across the road from Naomi’s Village at the Eldoret IDP camp playing with the children and donating Veritas clothing to them. We have also employed a large number of the men from the camp to help us build the childrens home and build into the local community. Amazing things happening in the city of Maai Mahiu, Kenya.
Remember when you buy Veritas fashion you are supporting incredible projects like these. http://www.liveveritas.com
We are currently working on a short film from our visit, so keep checking back.

This was an activity that was tied into my lesson on Self-Acceptance. We had people donate random clothes and had the kids dress themselves up. We then had them walk the cat walk. We wanted the kids to be proud of who they are. We wanted them to take on the attitude of, “Yeah I look weird, but HERE I AM.. Take it or leave it, but I’m choose to enjoy the person God made me.”
sewing and fashion camp for cool creative kids!
15 children ages 7-13 started summer camp with a 10minute/$5 budget power-shop for raw materials at the Goodwill thrift store. A la Project Runway, the children deconstructed & reconstructed their finds transforming them into expressive fashions. The workshop was led by poet/fashionista Nancy Kangas and artist Kelsey Schott. Couldnt have done it without the sewing expertise of Rita Beck & Edith Antolak
