In her presentation “Why Can’t Fashion Designers Own Their Designs?” Johanna Blakley, deputy director of the Norman Lear Center at the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, explains the ins and outs of copyright and intellectual property protection in the world of fashion. Blakely, who researches global entertainment, cultural diplomacy, celebrity culture, digital media and intellectual property law, has held a variety of positions within the high-tech industry, including one as Web producer and digital archivist at Vivendi-Universal Games. Blakley spoke as part of the 2010 USC Alumni Association Leadership Conference panel “Trojans Transforming the World,” moderated by USC Provost Elizabeth Garrett.
